Intentional Wellness:

Staying Balanced During Chaos

Noby Takaki, March 2020

These are crazy times, and it has never been more important to be holistically well.  You may be practicing self-distancing and finding yourself putting others first.  However, it is important that you tend to your needs as well.

At CA, we believe wellness is comprised of seven pillars.  In calm times, it can be a challenge to keep all seven pillars full and balanced, so during times of literal pandemic, we’ve provided some quick tips below to help you be well.

But first, take a deep breath.

Then pull an idea or two each day from our tips below.

Physical

  • Make a plan to get up and walk around for 5 mins every hour

  • I know many of us may have already eaten through our quarantine snacks…

    • Try to make a snacking choice that is less than 200 calories, less than 200mg of sodium and less than 10g of sugar.

  • OR check out these resources for in home exercises

Spiritual

  • If you’re religious continue to respect and honor your beliefs. If this means attending services look into some online alternatives.

  • Want to try meditation?  Headspace has free resources for COVID-19

Occupational

Social

  • Free livestream concerts!

  • Pick up the phone and check in with a loved on

  • Take the initiative and set up a time for a virtual meet up with your friends centered around something fun and random.  Keep the conversation light!

Emotional

Intellectual

  • Take this time to learn a hobby you’ve been putting off

  • Want to learn a new language?  Check out Duolingo in the app store

  • Once you finish Love is Blind or The Circle on Netflix check out their documentaries to expand your horizons!

Environmental

  • Natural light is your friend!  If you’re able to open those windows and blinds to allow some fresh air!

  • Take this extended amount of home time to de-clutter and dust.  Getting rid of those airborne allergens will help improve the quality of air circulating in your house.

Keep your head up, world.  We'll get through this.
